Black Women In Media

Objective: Event created to recognize women of color who are innovators within the media realm. This event is also created as a platform for other Black women currently in the media industry to receive a wealth of information from those who have attained renowned success in their respective fields.

On March 2014, Women In Media will excitingly debut it’s first year in NYC. The event will begin with a cocktail networking portion where women from radio, print, television, and online outlets interact with one another. This portion undoubtedly allows for the growth and creation of beneficial and lasting business relationships.

Following the cocktail hour, there will be an awards ceremony honoring the women who are recognized as pioneers within the media industry such as Sade Baderinwa, Brenda Blackman, Robin Roberts, Wendy Williams, Egypt, Jacque Reid, Michaela Angela Davis and many more!

Lastly, for the evening, there will be a panel discussion among honorees. They will answer questions such as:

  • Why they chose this career choice and was it their first choice
  • What obstacles they were faced with and how did they overcome them
  • What decisions and actions did they take to move to their position of success
  • Do they believe that women of color are not given as much opportunities and if so how can we overcome such challenges

Guests will also partake in a Q&A after the panel to ask for more personal and specific questions.
