Romney Smith is a Georgia peach who is excited to embrace the lifestyle of sunny Florida! Romney joined the Action News team in December of 2013.
To put it simply, Romney has an obsession with news….and all of the ‘Real Housewives’ shows, but that’s another story.
After graduating from the University of Richmond (GO SPIDERS!) Romney moved to Baltimore, Maryland to do pharmaceutical sales for a few years. She was also a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader, even though she’s a huge New Orleans Saints fan!
Romney felt the ‘news itch’ and decided to switch careers and pursue her love of journalism by earning a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland. Romney began her broadcast career working as a reporter at WFXL FOX 31 News in Albany, Georgia in 2009 and was quickly promoted to weekend anchor and less than a year later promoted again to become the main anchor/executive producer.
Romney’s life is a series of news deadlines, CrossFit workouts, shopping, dancing, cooking experiments, and playing with her Yorkshire Terrier Linney. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
