Anna-Lysa Gayle joined WLKY’s news team in March 2014. She got her start as a general assignment reporter and photojournalist in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she told a story about a kid’s controversial Halloween costume that garnered national attention.
A graduate of Howard University, it was there she took advantage of the opportunity to hone her skills as a journalist. During her four years there, she interned in newsrooms like WTOP 103.5 FM, Fox 5 WTTG and CNN. Always looking to learn new things, she also participated in competitive professional development programs with the T. Howard Foundation, the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), the Online News Association (ONA) student newsroom, mtvU, the Meredith-Cronkite Fellowship with CBS 5 KPHO and the CBC-UNC Diversity Fellowship with WRAL-TV. She graduated in May 2013 with a broadcast journalism degree and minor in Political Science.
Anna-Lysa was born in Jamaica, and has lived in places like New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Washington, D.C. When she isn’t telling a story, she enjoys spending time with family, watching movies, mentoring and discovering new places. She considers herself a life long learner.
