Feature:Monica Hardin




Monica Hardin joined WLKY as the morning traffic reporter in 2006. She now anchors the weekday morning newscasts on WLKY.

A Louisville native, Monica feels fortunate to start her broadcasting career in her hometown. She began in radio as host, producer and sound engineer for a weekly, 2 hour show called Posted Up on WLOU. After graduating from Assumption High School she won Miss Kentucky 2001 and  competed in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant. During her year of service as Miss Kentucky, Monica traveled over 80,000 miles on a motivational speaking tour sponsored in part by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Monica is featured on the MTV documentary “True Life: I’m A Beauty Queen” and is a contributing author in the book, “Under The Crown.” She has a combined 22 years of experience in communication as a motivational speaker, accomplished singer and professional model.

In 2005, she received the Volunteer Service Award personally from President George W. Bush.

She earned honors along with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from the University of Louisville.

Monica’s husband James is a Centre alumnus and is living his dream, working as a head basketball coach. They have a spunky toddler named Faith.
