Mugo Odigwe joined the CBS 2 news team in January 2013 as a reporter.
Born in Nigeria, Mugo moved to Arizona when she was 12 years old. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University with a BA in broadcast journalism and a minor in English literature.
While at ASU, she served as an anchor and reporter for Cronkite NewsWatch, an award-winning student produced newscast that aired live Monday to Thursday on PBS World (KAET-TV). She participated in several internships in the Phoenix market including CBS 5 (KPHO-TV), ABC 15 (KNXV-TV) and Phoenix 11, the city of Phoenix government channel where she served as a reporter and associate producer. She also interned at the New York Times Student Journalism Institute in New Orleans where she shot, edited, wrote and produced a short documentary on youth mentoring organizations in the city.
When she isn’t in the newsroom, Mugo enjoys reading, writing, running and spending time with friends and family. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Kappa Tau Alpha, the national honor society in journalism and mass communication.
