Feature:Uzoamaka Maduka

We obviously have a love for the written word, so how could we not love the efforts of Uzoamaka Maduka, a striking 25-year-old Nigerian-American Princeton graduate, who instead of creating another blog to begin her writing endeavor, created the American Reader, a literary journal that hosts essays, fiction and poetry online and in print. Raised in Maryland, the tall, egalitarian Maduka, known as Max to friends, was drawn to create the American Reader because she felt too many of the young voices in fiction were the “deeply neurotic” stories of “white males.” The uniqueness of Maduka’s literary endeavor has gotten her a lot of attention, including writes-ups in the New York Times, Vogue Paris and the Washington Post.ย
