On March 28th, Black Women In Media kicked off it’s 3rd year with an empowering conference. Guests arrived early to enjoy breakfast and an empowering start to the conference with keynote speaker, Dr. Stacie NC Grant. Dr Grant brought in a powerful message for me he conference guests teaching them to embrace self-love and each other.
Following the Dr. Grant were nine panels presented by BET Her, ranging from News & Journalism, Communications, Digital & Technology, Radio & Broadcast, TV & Production, Literature & Publishing, Fashion & Beauty, a Male Perspective panel, and of course Health & Wellness! Each panel contained four or more experts who gave insightful and informative advice on how to successful attain their same levels of success while overcoming prejudices and adversity. Guests also had an opportunity to ask specific questions to our panelist to further receive expert advice. Lucinda Cross was also a Keynote speaker and empowered the attendees with visualizing and maintaining their crowns!
Simultaneous to the panels, BWIM also held exclusive workshops and a full beauty lounge for their guests. Each workshop was lead by an expert with a room filled to capacity by its eager participants. Workshop Conductors verbally and or visually presented an outlined agenda providing step-by-step guidance on how to build their brands and launch their next big move! Workshop segments included, How to Become a Speaker, How to secure funding, Self Publishing, Protecting and Building Your Brand & Identity. VIP guests also enjoyed a Beauty Lounge which entailed spas owned by women of color such as the Anoz Spa, providing hand and full body massages; K Squared Nail Paint Brooklyn provided luxurious Manicures, & Up Spa providing facials. Lift & Lash along with Bellistry provided full glam makeup.

The following evening, Black Women In Media held their 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony at the gorgeous Jack Loft Studios Space. The event launched with a greetings from Chairwoman, Mrs.Judith Jacques-Laguerre followed by the commencement of the ceremony from Mistresses of Ceremony, Lyndsay Christian & Eboni K Williams. The awards also honored women in News & Journalism, Communications, Digital & Technology, Radio & Broadcast, TV & Production, Literature & Publishing, and Entertainment. Honorees include (but not limited to): TV One Chairwoman, Cathy Hughes; Fox 5’s Good Day New York Co-Host, Lori Stokes; Activist & Womens March Co-Chair Tamika Mallory; TV Personality & Entrepreneur, Yandy Smith; SVP of BET, Michele Thornton Ghee, Regional Head of Negotiations at Bloomberg, Nita Bourgeois; Fox News Anchor Arthel Neville; Executive Producer of Teen Vogue Them, Amber Payne; CMO at Aquahydrate, Ericka Pittman; VP of Brand Marketing at ESSENCE, Cassandre Charles; CMO at BET Jeanine Liburd, Daily Show w/ Trevor Noah Correspondent, Dulce Sloan; Co-Creator of OWN Black Love Docu-Series, Codie Elaine Oliver; Actress Toni Trucks; Actress & Rapper Niatia “Lil Mama” Kirkland. There were wonderful performances by amazing indie artists such asVictory Boyd, Norelle, DioMara, Morgan Taylor Jones, Marvill Martin, Farrah Boule, Danielle Carr, and Chelsie Denise.
The evening also entailed passed hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Fine Dining by Jamilah J., Chef Jamie G., Chef RoyalTee, and Stylish Chef Cheese.
