My name is René Daniella, and I am originally of both English and American heritage. In my 26 years I have lived in 9 different cities across 4 countries, two of which were not English speaking. Travel is an integral part of my lifetsyle; it’s one of the biggest reasons why I’m excited to get out of bed each morning and take on the day. This site is dedicated to highlighting the beauty of femininity as I have come to understand it, my international travels, unique style & beauty, big curly hair – and of course, building community & creating experiences through Femme In Bloom! I recently moved from London, United Kingdom to Washington, D.C., and I’m traveling to new places around the world every month!

In addition to my tips and stories of the beautiful struggles that come with being a world-traveleing curly girl, you will also see features discussing personal experiences, my top secret travel tips, health & fitness challenges, yummy recipes and a whole lot more!

“Speak what you think today in hard words and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said today”- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love this quote from Emerson, because it reminds me that we should all feel empowered, confident and secure in our voices – even if we find ourselves singing a new tune tomorrow. In whatever I do, I own it – and I would love for you to join me on this beautiful journey of doing the same. Let’s be strong, travel often, love deeply, and grow – together!

Own It,

Rene Daniella

Hi! I’m Courtney, the mentor in your head with a sweet spot for storytelling and helping millennials win in the workplace and at life.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in journalism, I, like most DMV natives, landed a comfortable job with the government to help me start on this crazy yet exciting journey of adulthood. After 365 days of freelancing on the side, applying to countless media jobs, feeling uninspired and itching for more in life, I left my “good government job” for my first editorial position in NY. While my journey thus far has been full of hard work, sweat, tears, prayer, and even rejection, I wouldn’t trade it in for the world. (Ok, well maybe the rejection part, but hey there is a lesson to be learned in every setback. )

I don’t promise to have all the answers for you, but I do promise to offer honest advice about what has and hasn’t worked for me. My hope is that the stories I share about my personal career/life, as well as tidbits from the awesome people I interview and meet will inspire someone to dream big, take risks and have faith.

PhaShunta Hubert Talks Becoming a Celebrity Host and Running Her Own Media Company

Ms. PhaShunta Hubert, creator of MissPhaShunta.com, launched her site on October 2013 to showcase her love for communication, media, and entertainment. At the young age of 19, Hubert built her own website, learned how to market herself, and worked as a cosmetologist; all while building her brand.  MissPhaShunta.com is a digital destination to read and watch the latest in celebrity news and gossip.  As a current communications student at Eastern Michigan University, Hubert wears many hats, including blogger, media correspondent, business owner (MissPhaShunta LLC) and mother.

Hubert began her career by interviewing local radio personalities, and landed interviews with popular music stars, such as Atlanta Hip-Hop trio Migos, and R&B star Melanie Fiona.  Since then, Hubert has expanded her reach, enabling her to  interview several celebrity and reality TV stars, including: Mona Scott Young, Anthony Anderson, Patti LaBelle, Tyrese, Keke Palmer, Diggy Simmons, Tinashe, Sevyn Streeter, Erica Campbell, and more. Hubert has also worked with BET Networks and Centric Television covering major events, such as the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards, 2014 Soul Train Awards, 2014 BET Experience, and the 2015 UNCF: An Evening of Stars Awards.

“I would like for people to know that it is very possible to achieve your dreams while you’re still in school, have a child, or when obstacles are in your way. I was told, so many times, ‘no’ when I reached out to celebrity managements when I started my company. I basically had no material, so I created my own  broadcast on YouTube and social media. I tried again and again and eventually I got my first big interview. You have to stay focused and know what you want,” Hubert explained.

Hubert attributes much of her success to her family. “They help me keep the balance in my life. My father and sister travel with me; making sure I’m okay. My mother is my personal assistant. My significant other, and the father of our 2-year-old child, is my camera operator, along with my 13-year-old sister,” says Hubert.

Feature: Kandace Jones- Living in the Light

Hello beautiful people!  I am Kandace Jones, Founder of Living in the Light and author of From Stress to Peace: An Intimate Journal on the Journey from Living in Darkness to Living in the Light.

I used to live life shackled by fear, doubt, and worry.  I put on a happy face while navigating my day-to-day duties, but I was emotionally drained, stressed, and unhappy.  When I hit rock bottom, and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I was determined to live life differently.  I knew there had to be another way.  Out of that determination, and clear guidance from Spirit to be authentic and share my journey publicly, Living in the Light was born.  The Living in the Light blog and Facebook page began as a real-time documentation of my journey from stress to peace, and has evolved into a source of daily inspiration for over 24,000 across 40+ countries.

After nine months of publicly sharing my journey, while being relentless in my daily spiritual practice, I experienced a powerful spiritual awakening.  I went from living in fear, doubt, worry, and stress to complete inner peace.  My greatest passion has become assisting others on the journey to unshakable peace, while being fully transparent about what it takes to get there.  I am a Certified Spiritual Life Coach, Reiki Practitioner, and teacher/student of A Course in Miracles. I help others start and sustain a daily spiritual practice that guides them From Stress to Peace.  Some of the ways I do this include the From Stress to Peace 21-Day ChallengeLiving in the Light Retreats, and the Living in the Light Community. My spiritual memoir, From Stress to Peace: An Intimate Journal on the Journey from Living in Darkness to Living in the Light, is coming in 2014. I can’t wait to share it with you!
